Overview

Treating eating disorders in the type of setting we provide contributes to a sense of responsibility and autonomy. Integrating the skills clients learn with us into real life situations while continuing therapy results in life-long change.  Eating Disorders, including; emotional eating and binge eating, are not solely problems with food and weight. They are ways of coping in which food is used to manage emotions and stress.
We are continually developing new treatment programs in response to the changing needs of our community. For example, we run groups specifically for emotional eaters and binge eaters. We also at different times run groups specializing in the needs of adolescents, men and/or family members. Our program also includes individual and family consultations.
For additional information, or to reserve your spot in one of our groups, please call Shaney #398-5467 or email us at info@afbltherapy.com
For those of you interested in a group your first meeting will be an individual session with the group therapist so that she can assess how the group can best meet your needs.

Collaboration of Care

Achieving health while battling an eating disorder is difficult and often requires collaboration with; loved ones, treatment professionals, and organizations on the realms of awareness, prevention, and treatment. We work with other treatment professionals to tailor an individualized approach.  In our efforts to ensure that all aspects of health are addressed appropriately we may coordinate care with primary care physicians, internists, psychiatrist, nutritionists, personal trainers, and yoga instructors.

Consultations

Consultations provide a chance to explore what brings you to therapy and what therapy can offer you. As with all sessions they are confidential and are the first step in determining if we feel we can work together.
